The Science of Movement

What is Exercise Physiology?

Exercise Physiology is a university-trained allied health discipline focused on the science of how the body responds and adapts to physical activity. Accredited Exercise Physiologists (AEPs) are the most qualified health professionals to prescribe exercise as medicine.

At Progressive Sports Medicine, our AEPs design individualised, evidence-based programs that address the root cause of your condition — not just the symptoms. Whether you're recovering from injury, managing a chronic health condition, or looking to optimise your performance and longevity, we build a plan around you.

University-Qualified & ESSA Accredited Our physiologists hold postgraduate qualifications and are registered with Exercise & Sports Science Australia.
Objective, Data-Driven Assessment Gold standard testing including VALD strength profiling, VO₂ Max, DEXA and RMR — so your progress is always measurable.
Long-Term, Sustainable Outcomes We equip you with the tools and knowledge to take ownership of your health — not just short-term symptom relief.
Integrated with Your Medical Team Working alongside our sports medicine doctors, dietitian and specialists for seamless, coordinated care.

What to Expect

Your path to better health

A structured, three-stage approach designed to get you the best possible outcome — from first appointment through to long-term results.

1

Initial Consultation

A comprehensive 60-minute assessment covering your health history, movement, strength, and cardiovascular fitness. We identify the root cause and set clear, measurable goals.

60 minutes
2

Objective Testing & Programming

Where indicated, gold standard testing — including VALD force plate strength assessment — is used to identify asymmetries and baseline fitness, informing a fully personalised program.

Data-driven
3

Ongoing Review & Progress

Regular follow-up consultations track your progress through objective re-testing. Your program evolves as you improve, ensuring continued adaptation and long-term results.

Why Choose Us

The Progressive difference

We combine clinical expertise with the latest technology — embedded within a multidisciplinary sports medicine environment — to deliver outcomes that generic gym-based programs simply can't match.

Gold Standard Technology

VALD Performance force plate testing for objective strength profiling, VO₂ Max, DEXA body composition and RMR — so every decision is grounded in data, not guesswork.

Multidisciplinary Team

Work alongside our sports medicine doctors, dietitian and surgical specialists under one roof — ensuring your care is fully coordinated and nothing falls through the cracks.

Accredited & Evidence-Based

Both our Exercise Physiologists are ESSA-accredited and hold postgraduate qualifications — bringing academic rigour to every program we design.

Long-Term Focus

We build programs with sustainability in mind — giving you the knowledge, habits and confidence to manage your health independently, long after your consultations end.

Measurable Progress

Regular objective re-testing means you can see exactly how you're improving. No guessing — just clear, trackable results against your initial baseline.

Flexible Funding Options

We accept Medicare care plans, DVA, WorkCover, NDIS, CTP and private health insurance — so quality care is accessible regardless of how you're funded.
