Progressive Sports Medicine practice on Norton Street, Leichhardt Now recruiting

Full-time SEM Registrar — 2027 training year

Available for Start from 2026.

We're inviting interested registrars to join us for sessions across the remainder of 2026 — see the rooms, sit in on the teaching, run some lists, meet the team. If it works for both of us, we lock in a full-time position for 2027. If it doesn't, you've lost nothing.

We are a modern clinic in Leichhardt, in the heart of Sydney's beautiful Inner West. We're progressive by name and by nature, and if there's one thing this practice was built on, it's a love of teaching. This practice was built around education: from our dedicated Research Support, annual Mock Clinical Exam to the WBAs and mock vivas Dr Samra runs for registrars across the college. A full-time registrar sits at the centre of that.

What you'll train in

Four SEM physicians, one roof Train alongside the Head Doctors for Australian Men's Cricket, the Sydney Roosters and the NSW Waratahs, plus an orthopaedic hip & knee surgeon.
Procedural skills that stick High-quality ultrasound in every consulting room, shockwave therapy, all standard injectable options, and structured ultrasound-guided technique training with Dr Samra.
A real MDT On-site exercise physiology and sports dietetics, with a full commercial gym at the back of the practice for supervised rehabilitation and exercise prescription.
Education, weekly and one-on-one Regular individual teaching with Dr Samra, in-house education sessions across the physician group, and our annual Mock Clinical Exam ahead of Fellowship.
Scope beyond MSK DEXA body composition, VO₂ max testing, metabolic assessment and personalised exercise medicine — training for where the specialty is heading.
Research support A dedicated Research & Education Lead, Zheng Cao (PhD), to help you design, run and publish your research requirement.

Day to day, we run Lyrebird transcription and Xestro cloud-based practice software — your consultation letters largely write themselves. On-site parking, and Norton Street's cafés at the door.

Elite sport exposure

Our physicians hold head doctor roles with Australian Men's Cricket, the Sydney Roosters and the NSW Waratahs, and opportunities regularly arise for registrars to gain experience within these elite team environments. Closer to home, we support the Newington College Rugby Program — an exceptionally well-organised and well-resourced schoolboy program that offers outstanding sideline, screening and injury-management experience across a full season.

Health professionals — join the team

If you are a health professional with a passion for empowering the best health of your patients, Progressive Sports Medicine wants to hear from you.

In our experience, effective healthcare comes more from who we choose to be. A commitment to lifelong learning and to helping patients matters more than the formal degrees on the wall. In other words, the most important thing is not what the clinician is — physiotherapist, exercise physiologist, chiropractor, osteopath — but who they are. That is why our trusted group of clinicians works across different disciplines, under specialist medical oversight, toward the same goal.
