About the role

A new patient-facing service, and the brand to match.

Progressive Sports Medicine (PSM) is a specialist Sport and Exercise Medicine practice in Leichhardt, led by Dr David Samra (FACSEP, Affiliate Clinical Lecturer at the University of Sydney School of Health Sciences). We are launching a new patient-facing service line — Progressive Longevity Clinic — focused on evidence-based exercise medicine, metabolic health, and healthspan optimisation.

We are seeking a self-directed marketing and communications contractor to manage our digital content output for the next three months. We are paying for outcomes, not hours. If you prefer hourly time tracking, this role is not for you. If you can self-manage your time around clear weekly deliverables, we'd like to hear from you.

What you'll do

Three streams of work, one consistent rhythm.

Your work spans weekly content production, website and SEO performance, and ongoing engagement across our channels.

Weekly content

01

SEO blog post

One per week, 600–900 words, derived from existing video content and clinical material, optimised for search.

02

LinkedIn posts

Two per week drafted for Dr Samra. He approves and posts. Clinical insight, AHPRA-compliant framing.

03

Instagram / Reels

Three or more per week built from existing video assets and supplied clinic footage. Mix of Reels, carousels, single-image posts.

04

YouTube Shorts

Three to five per week cut from our existing 15-video education series. Pure repurposing leverage.

05

Engagement response

All comments and DMs responded to within 48 business hours. Clinical questions flagged, not answered.

Friday summary

Weekly status email to Dr Samra: completed work, items pending approval, AI tools used per deliverable.

Website & SEO performance

You'll work across two practice websites: progressivespecialists.com.au(primary clinic site) and drdavidsamra.com.au(Dr Samra's personal practitioner site). The brief is to use AI tools systematically — ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Canva AI — to multiply output and improve search performance:

  • Maximise bidirectional internal linking between the two sites and across pages within each
  • On-page SEO — meta descriptions, title tags, header hierarchy, image alt text, schema markup
  • Content refresh and updates on key landing pages, particularly the longevity programme page
  • Page performance optimisation — image compression, load speed audits, Core Web Vitals
  • Active use of Google Search Console to monitor and improve organic search performance
  • AI-assisted keyword research, content briefs, and SEO copy — speed and quality through good AI judgement

Across the engagement

  • Optimisation of the existing Google Business Profile for Progressive Sports Medicine
  • Repurposing the existing 15-video education series into hundreds of secondary content pieces
  • Monthly performance report — traffic, engagement, top performers, recommended adjustments for the following month
About you

What we're looking for.

You'll bring

  • Currently completing or recently completed a Masters degree in Marketing, Communications, Media, Digital Marketing, or Health Communication
  • Demonstrated ability to write clearly for both clinical and consumer audiences
  • Confident use of AI tools — with the judgement to know when AI output needs significant editing
  • Working knowledge of a major CMS (WordPress, Duda, or similar)
  • Familiarity with Google Analytics, Google Search Console, and a social scheduling tool
  • Strong written English (Australian English preferred)
  • Self-directed, deliverable-focused work style

Nice to have

  • Background in health science, biomedical science, or exercise physiology
  • Awareness of AHPRA advertising guidelines (training provided regardless)
  • Portfolio work in healthcare or science communication
  • SEO certification or demonstrable on-page SEO experience
  • Basic video editing skills (CapCut, Premiere Rush, or similar)
What you'll gain

A portfolio piece that opens doors.

Portfolio

A substantial named portfolio piece in specialist medical marketing — a niche that is genuinely growing, with most of your peers chasing the same e-commerce and SaaS work.

Reference

On successful completion: a professional reference letter from Dr David Samra (FACSEP, Affiliate Clinical Lecturer, University of Sydney School of Health Sciences) and a LinkedIn recommendation.

Extension

Demonstrated benefit during the initial three months opens the door to an extended engagement on negotiated terms.

How to apply

Send us your application by email.

Use either of the addresses below. We read every submission ourselves.

Include in your application

  1. A short cover letter (maximum one page) outlining why you are suited to this role
  2. Your CV
  3. Portfolio or work samples (links are fine)
  4. The writing task below — this is the single most important part of your application
The writing task

Explain VO₂ Max in 200 words.

Write a 200-word piece explaining what VO₂ Max is, addressed to a 45-year-old patient considering a longevity assessment. Treat it as a draft Instagram caption.

We're looking for your voice and your ability to translate clinical concepts into accessible, accurate language. Anyone can use AI to generate a generic answer — we want to see your editorial judgement. Show us what you would actually publish.

Closing date: Applications reviewed on a rolling basis. Submit early — shortlisting begins ahead of the first interview round on 6 June.
